It’s a fair question. Working with a remote production studio is still unfamiliar territory for many independent artists, and the process can feel confusing from the outside looking in.
So here’s exactly what it looks like from the moment you reach out to the moment your finished track is in your hands.
Step 1 — The Free Consultation
Everything starts with a conversation.
The free consultation isn’t a sales call. It’s a genuine conversation about where your music is, where you want it to go, and what it needs to get there. We listen first.
Then ask questions about your genre, your references, your goals, and what you’re working toward, whether that’s a streaming release, a sync pitch, a publisher submission, or something else.
At the end of the conversation, you’ll have a clear picture of what your music needs and whether Fuster Studios is the right fit to help you get there. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll tell you that too.
Step 2 — The Brief
If the consultation confirms we’re moving forward, the next step is the brief.
The brief is where we go deeper into everything that shapes the production. Your references the tracks that capture the direction, the mood, the production aesthetic. Your “don’t want” list: the things you’ve heard in other productions that you want to avoid. The intended use of the track. The timeline. Any specific delivery requirements.
A thorough brief is what prevents revision cycles and protects your creative vision throughout the process. The more clearly we understand where you want to take your music – the sound, the outcome – the more directly we can get it there.

Step 3 — Production
This is where the work happens.
Depending on what your track needs whether that’s full production from scratch, production polish on an existing demo, AI-to-professional transformation, or something in between this stage looks different for every project.
What’s consistent across every project is the approach. Every production decision is made in service of the music and in alignment with the brief. We’re not trying to put our stamp on your track; we’re trying to realize your vision more fully than you could alone.
Work-in-progress files are shared at key stages so you can hear the direction before it’s locked in. Your feedback at each stage is what keeps the production on track, not a final approval at the end when it’s too late to change direction.
Step 4 — Mixing
Once the production is where it needs to be, the track goes into the mix.
Mixing is where every element gets balanced, shaped, and placed so the track translates correctly across every playback system: studio monitors, earbuds, phone speakers, and car stereos. The vocal sits clearly in the mix. The low end is controlled and intentional. The different elements occupy their own space without competing.
A track that sounds right in one environment but falls apart in another isn’t mixed; it’s lucky. Professional mixing makes the result consistent and intentional across the board.
Step 5 — Mastering
The final step before delivery.
Mastering prepares the finished mix for wherever it’s going, optimizing the overall loudness and tone for streaming platforms, broadcast specifications, or sync submission requirements. It’s also where we do a final quality check, catching anything that slipped through the mix and confirming the track meets every technical specification it needs to.
For artists who need both a streaming master and a broadcast or sync master, we produce both from the same session so everything is optimized for wherever the track is going.
Step 6 — Delivery
The finished track, delivered correctly.
Delivery at Fuster Studios isn’t just sending a file. It’s making sure everything the track needs to go where you’re sending it is present and correct.
That means the stereo master in the right format. The instrumental version, if required. Stems exported and labeled correctly if they’re needed for sync or remixes. Metadata completed and included, if discussed. File naming that makes sense to whoever is receiving the files on the other end.
We don’t consider a project finished until the delivery is complete, not just the music.

Communication is clear throughout. You know where the project stands at every stage. When we need something from you, such as feedback, a decision, or a reference, we ask specifically. When the production is heading in a direction you want to course-correct, you tell us, and we adjust.

- How long does a typical project take from first consultation to final delivery?
It depends on the scope of work and how many revision rounds are needed. Most projects run on a timeline established at the brief stage, so there are no surprises. We build realistic milestones in from the start and communicate clearly if anything changes. Rushing a project to hit an arbitrary deadline is one of the most reliable ways to end up with a result that doesn’t hold up. - What if I only need mixing and mastering, not full production?
Mixing and mastering alone is absolutely something we do. The process is the same: brief, work-in-progress files, feedback, final delivery, just scoped to that stage of the process. If you have a finished production and need it mixed and mastered to a professional standard, that’s a conversation worth having. - How involved do I need to be during production?
As involved as you want to be, within the structure of the process. We share work-in-progress files at key stages and ask for specific feedback at each point. You don’t need to be available constantly, but the more engaged you are when we do share progress, the better the result. The artists who get the most out of the process are the ones who stay in it. - What genres do you work in?
